Spring....

Sitting here this morning, I've actually let it sink in that the semester- and the year- are coming to a close. I have less than a month yet, and I will have survived my freshman year of college. Wow. It doesn't feel like that long, but here I am in the middle of April already. As of tomorrow, I'll have been here for seven months, and a student for eight.
This, of course, is what happens when my first class is canceled and I have the time to think on things. I've learned a lot. A lot more than I thought, in fact.

- Being friends with your roommate is not required, as long as you aren't trying to kill each other.
- Apparently, no matter where you are, the hush of early morning will follow you
- The sound of trains passing in the distance is not as eerie as authors would have you believe
- Cafeteria food isn't deadly
- Living with hundreds of other people in the same building doesn't mean you have to meet all of them
- Dorm rooms aren't as small as people say; they are only as small as you let them become
-The songs of a single musician with a guitar, sitting on a picnic table in the courtyard, is as good as a lullaby
-It takes all kinds
-The people behind the desk are exactly that: people
- You are living in the dorm, so actually LIVE in it
- So what if you're practicing your swordfighting in the grass outside the dorm? There was a whipped-cream fight last week

  1. I remember having thoughts like this towards the end of my freshman year. It seems a little weird, doesn't it?
